Welcome to DebtZen. By downloading, installing, or using the DebtZen application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using the App.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not install or use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and DebtZen ("we", "our", "us"). By accessing or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, are a resident of India, and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

2. Description of Service

DebtZen is a personal finance management application that helps you:

• Track income, monthly and annual expenses
• Manage loans (EMIs), view payoff timelines, and simulate repayment strategies
• Monitor investments, assets, bank savings, and net worth
• Plan for financial freedom and calculate your freedom number
• Set and track financial goals
• Receive EMI reminders via push notifications

3. User Accounts

To use DebtZen, you must authenticate using your mobile phone number via OTP (One-Time Password). You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your registered phone number
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Immediately notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User Obligations

You agree to use DebtZen only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not:

• Provide false, misleading, or inaccurate financial information
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App
• Use the App to engage in any fraudulent, illegal, or harmful activity
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data
• Use any automated tools or bots to access the App
• Violate any applicable Indian laws, including the IT Act, 2000 or DPDP Act, 2023

5. Data and Privacy

Your use of DebtZen is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points:

• Your financial data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to Firebase Firestore
• You retain full ownership of all data you enter into the App
• We do not sell your data to third parties
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality within the DebtZen App — including the design, code, text, graphics, logos, and icons — are owned by DebtZen and protected by applicable intellectual property laws in India.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes only. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

DebtZen is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
• Any financial projections, calculations, or estimates are accurate or suitable for your specific situation
• The App will meet all your personal finance requirements

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, DebtZen and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

• Your use of or inability to use the App
• Any financial decisions made based on App data or projections
• Data loss due to device failure, app uninstall, or account deletion
• Unauthorized access to your account resulting from your failure to maintain account security

Our total liability in any circumstance shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Google Firebase (for authentication, data sync, and notifications). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

10. Modifications to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time without prior notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. We may terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, with or without prior notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Tamil Nadu, India.
